Instrument Hire

Sutton Music Service currently has over one thousand musical instruments in its popular Instrument Hire scheme, enabling a large number of children and young people to learn a musical instrument at a subsidised cost. The cost, for all instruments, is £24 per term.

Instruments can only be hired for the use of children attending and taking instrumental lessons at a London Borough of Sutton maintained school, or who are members of Music Service ensembles.

The instruments in our hire scheme include: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tenor horn, baritone, euphonium and tuba.

Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (AIPS)

Sutton Music Service is able to assist with the purchase (VAT exempt) of certain instruments at discounted rates negotiated on behalf of the London Borough of Sutton. To qualify for this scheme you must either be having lessons at Wednesday or Saturday Music School, or with an Approved Instrumental Teacher at a London Borough of Sutton maintained school. Pupils at academies or private schools do not qualify for this scheme but may be able to apply for a similar scheme through their school.
