Wednesday Music School

Building on the success of our Saturday Music School, we launched Wednesday Music School in September 2009. Lessons take place on Wednesday evenings at Wandle Valley School with tuition currently offered on violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone and trumpet. These lessons are most appropriate for beginners, pupils who have participated in a Whole Class Instrumental Tuition (WCIT) programme at their school, or Year 6 pupils moving on to schools where their chosen instrument is not currently offered. The cost of lessons is £50 per term. All pupils are required to join a borough ensemble after a period of two terms' tuition.

Wednesday Music School is organised by Lewis Gibbs, Coordinator for Instrumental Music, and our tutors are David Larkin, Dido Xenakis, Ronan MacManus, Greg Duggan, Philip Aslangul, Ruth Young, Sue Bishop, Tara Roman, Neil Thomas and Cameron Todd.

Due to overwhelming demmand, we are not currently accepting applications for violin lessons, but please complete an application form should you wish to be considered for a place at Wednesday Music School on any other instrument.

Saturday Music School

Saturday Music School was established in 1999, with funds from what was then the Department for Education and Skills, and opened it's doors to students in January 2000. Based at Wandle Valley School, the music school takes place on Saturday mornings and provides lessons on viola, double bass, oboe, bassoon, french horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba and percussion. There is also a Percussion Ensemble which is open to pupils who are having lessons on percussion or drums elsewhere. The highly subsidised cost of £50 per term also incorporates theory and aural tuition as well as instrument hire where necessary. All pupils are required to join a borough ensemble after a period of two terms' tuition.

Saturday Music School is organised by Lewis Gibbs, Coordinator for Instrumental Music, and our tutors are David Brooker, Dave Holland, Amie Boddy, Juliet Lewis, Tom Hardy, Kathryn Allnutt, Gillian Jones, Roger Willey, Hannah Taylor, Mark Probert and Helen Garner. Please complete an application form if you would like to be considered for a place at Saturday Music School.
