4 May River Wandle Instrumental & Vocal Showcase
Fairfield Halls, Croydon

This exciting event will see YMO joining together with Croydon Youth Sinfonia and musicians from the London Mozart Players (LMP) to perform a concert on Friday 4 May at Fairfield Halls, Croydon. The concert will also involve children from some of the seventeen primary schools in Sutton that take part in Whole Class Instrumental Tuition projects.

This is the second phase of a project being funded by the Greater London Authority, as an incentive, set up by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, for partnership working between London Music Services and professional orchestras.

One of the aims of the project is to forge stronger links between the communties of Sutton and Croydon and, as well as several other pieces, the concert will feature the premiere of a new work by composer Fraiser Trainer inspired by the River Wandle, which runs through both boroughs.

The project also aims to promote concert going among young people and to enable members of YMO and CYS to inspire younger children who have just started to learn an instrument.
